Ongar Town 0 - 0 Old Chelmsfordian's

Both teams came into the game on the back of recent good wins and looking confident. Game started brightly with a couple chances for either team but slowly Ongar got into their stride and started to take control of a strong OC’s side.. Aaron Blair, again looking a threat in front of goal but couldn’t break the deadlock before half time interval.

Assistant manager Mark Lilly (in charge as Manager Richard Ponsford having a well earned holiday) then rung the half time changes to try to force the breakthrough, but OC’s remained resolute and proved a difficult side to break down.. In fact the only real 2nd half moment to talk about was the nasty head injury which home skipper Jake Chadwick received.. Horrible gash on back of his head but still not enough to force him off the field of play as he and his defence fought to protect their good defensive record. There was one last late scare for OC’s when Aaron Blair was clattered into in the away penalty area with only 1 minute left, only for the referee to wave away the home teams calls for spot kick to be awarded..

So Ongar failed to keep up their 100% winning start to the League season and had to settle for a 0-0 draw..

On to the next one..
