OTFC 2 - 0 Hutton FC

Ongar entertained Essex Olympian Premier Division side Hutton FC in the next round of the County Premier Cup at home at a very soggy Fortress Fyfield after the recent deluge!

Ongar also dealt more issues with usual home goalkeeper Haymes crying off ill the morning of the game due to severe stomach bug, so Manager Richard Ponsford had to dust off the old boots again and pull on the number 1 jersey must to his frustration.

Both teams started quietly brightly on a difficult surface, attempting to play good football but with no real threat for the opening 15 mins. With how game was shaping, it had the look of a midfield battle in the offing and so it proved be..

25 minutes into the game Aaron Blair broke down the left hand side and squared a delightful pass across a Hutton’s goal for the lively Harry Rawlins on hand to tap home at the back post to make it 1 nil to the Town!

Ongar did created a couple more chances to score before the break but another strong goal keeper performance by the Away GK kept the score at 1-0 at the half time interval.

Ongar retook the field with manager Ponsford’s words ringing in the ears, demanding them to win their duals and compete all over the pitch, Ongar lifted their performance level in the 2nd half and started to apply real pressure to a good Hutton side.

With the home team’s defence looking awesome in their work and protection of their manager in the home team goal, not having to make a save of note, Ongar really started to kick on and apply the pressure and go for the win against a higher ranked team to see them through to the next round.

With Ongar now in control and creating as they can, it was left to Aaron Blair to cut in from the left and curl a wonderful shot in the far top corner past the Hutton keeper!

Excellent goal to cap off a superb afternoon for Ongar Town who now progress to the 4th round with a strong performance winning 2-0..
